Moscow - Belarus has extradited to Russia two Chechen militants suspected of attacks in Chechnya and financing of Doku Umarov, the Federal Security Service told Interfax on Monday.

‘The extradition of Ibragim Bakaniyev and Magomed Akayev took place in the Smolensk sector of the Belarusian-Russian border on July 19,” it said.

The third suspect, Elsi Movsarov, will be extradited to Russia after he serves time for attacking a Belarusian security officer, it said.

“The joint work of the Russian Federal Security Service and Interior Ministry, the Belarusian State Security Committee and the Ukrainian Security Service stopped criminal attacks of militants in the capital city of the Chechen republic,” the service said.

“Most of the criminally obtained funds financed [Chechen warlord] Doku Umarov,” it said.
