You're reading: Russian FSB may take over case against man suspected of plotting Putin assassination

MOSCOW - A criminal case against Adam Osmayev, a Russian citizen detained in Ukraine and suspected of plotting Russian President Vladimir Putin's assassination, should be passed to the Russian Prosecutor General's Office, which will make a decision what agency will investigate it in Russia, a law enforcement source told Interfax.

“The criminal case in relation to Osmayev should first reach the Prosecutor General’s Office, which forwarded an extradition request for him to the Ukrainian counterparts,” he said.

“The Prosecutor General’s Office will decide what Russian law enforcement agency will be investigating this case. It cannot be ruled out that it will be taken over by the FSB [Federal Security Service],” the source said.
