You're reading: Russian Transport Ministry: Russia, Egypt note “significant progress” in provision of air safety

MOSCOW - Russian Deputy Minister of Transport Nikolai Zakhryapin and Egypt's Civil Aviation Minister Sharif Fathi met in Moscow on Friday to discuss the process of approving a draft agreement between the two countries' governments on cooperation in providing civil aviation safety, the Russian Transport Ministry said.

“To their mutual satisfaction, the parties noted significant progress in this area,” the ministry said.

They also touched on issues relating to a visit by yet another Russian group of experts to the airports of Sharm el-Sheikh and Hurghada.

It was reported that Russian Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov is planning to visit Egypt to check local airports next week. After the visit, a decision could be made to resume flights between Russia and Egypt, the minister said.
