Brussels, Belgium - An emergency situations response drill under the NATO aegis will take place near Tbilisi on September 22-28, NATO said on Wednesday.
NATO and its partners will practice joint response to emergency situations, it said.
More than 1,000 servicemen and civilians will take part in the drill organized by the Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC).
The Georgia 2012 drill will involve teams from 11 member countries of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council. Thirteen states will send their staff officers to Georgia. There will be 60 monitors, too.
The exercises will simulate a major quake in Georgia, which leads to big casualties and destructions of key infrastructure, such as chemical plant accidents and radiation leaks.
This will be the 14th field drill held by the EADRCC since 2000.
