LONDON — Britain qualified for the final of the women's pursuit in a world record time of 3 minutes 14.682 seconds on Saturday as the home country continued to dominate at the London Velodrome.

The team of Dani King, Laura
Trott and Joanna Rowsell improved on the mark of 3:15.669 they had set
the previous day in qualifying.

The British team will face the
United States in the final after Sarah Hammer, Dotsie Bausch and Jennie
Reed posted the second fastest time over the 3,000 meters in 3:16.853.

The final was to be held later Saturday.

After
dominating the track events in Beijing four years ago, the British team
looks poised for a repeat, having already won three of the four gold
medals awarded so far in track cycling.
