MOSCOW — The head of an IOC inspection group says recent test events in Sochi for the 2014 Winter Games brought favorable assessments.

Jean-Claude Killy said on Wednesday that test events have been held at 10 of the Olympic venues and “the feedback from sports federations has been mostly positive.”

The International Olympic Committee inspectors, on a two-day visit, have seen “a great deal of progress, but there is still a lot to be done,” Killy said without elaborating.

Concerns about Sochi’s preparations were underlined last month when President VladimirPutin ordered the firing of the deputy head of the Russian Olympic Committee over delays and huge cost overruns in building the ski jump.

The games open in 11 months.
