Kharkiv – President of Kharkiv FC Metalist Serhiy Kurchenko has promised to open a museum of the club in 2013.

“So the younger generation of Kharkiv football lovers don’t forget their heroes, this year we’ll open a museum of FC Metalist, where everyone can learn about the history of the club, the personalities who created this history, and the achievements of Metalist,” the club’s press service quotes Kurchenko as saying on Tuesday.

In his appeal to veterans and fans of Metalist on the occasion of 25th anniversary of team’s victory in the Soviet football cup, Kurchenko said that the club is not going to be satisfied with silver in Ukraine’s championship and will do everything to surpass the achievements of their forerunners.

“This year we won the silver in Ukraine’s championship. And we aren’t going to stop at what has been achieved! The new Ukrainian season is ahead. The Champions League is ahead. I’m sure that if the team, as in 1988, exerts itself, the glory of Metalist will resound in all football society! We’re proud of the victories of our forerunners and will do everything to surpass them. I think this will be the best present to veterans and fans of the club,” he said.

As reported, in Aug 2004, the regional organization of the Football Federation of Ukraine initiated the opening of a museum of Kharkiv football.
