EuroBasket 2015 Tournament Director Markiyan Lubkivsky has said that all arenas that want to host matches of the EuroBasket 2015 European Basketball Championship must sign an agreement with FIBA Europe on holding tournament matches.

“One of the prerequisites for the participation of a certain arena in
the championship is the signing of an agreement and, at the first
stage, of a protocol of intent with the local organizing committee,
which was authorized by FIBA Europe to do so, along with the Basketball
Federation of Ukraine,” he said at a press conference at
Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

He said that all of the necessary documents had already been
submitted by Kharkiv-Arena Ltd., DeVision, the company that plans to
build an arena on Stolychne Highway in Kyiv, Kalmius-Arena Ltd., which
is being built in Donetsk by the Donbass hockey club, and soon the local
organizing committee expects to get the documents from United
Basketball Investments (UBI), which won the right to build multipurpose
sports arenas in Kyiv, Odesa, Dnipropetrovsk and Lviv.

“These documents include statutory and registration documents, an
agreement on the lease of a land plot or confirmation that the land plot
is owned by the company, and a contract for design and estimation work.
This gives the opportunity for the signing of agreements to hold
championship matches in the arenas that are being built by these
companies. These agreements are required to ensure that at the time of
the tournament the arena will be available to organizers and that it
will be possible to hold championship matches there,” Lubkivsky said.

The FIBA EuroBasket 2015 will be the 39th edition of the FIBA EuroBasket championship that is organized by FIBA Europe. It will take place in Ukraine.
