You're reading: A Ukrainian pilot may be killed in a plane crash in Congo

The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine are checking information of foreign mass media that a pilot killed in a crash of Il-76 aircraft crash was Ukrainian citizen. 

“The Foreign Ministry of Ukraine is checking the information,” spokesperson of the ministry, Oleksandr Dykusarov told Interfax-Ukraine.

Around 30 people were killed after a crash of Il-76 aircraft in the capital of Congo, Brazzaville, on Friday. The crew and local residents were killed. Around 20 persons were injured and taken to the hospital.

According to local authorities, the aircraft failed to land to the runway due to gale-strength wind and crashed into several houses.

According to emergency services, four crew members died at the scene.

Some media reports said that the pilot of the plant was Ukrainian citizen.

The crew of the plane that crashed in Congo included seven people, five of them citizens of Armenia. All of them have been killed.

It was reported earlier that about 30 people were killed in the crash of an Il-76 in Brazzaville. About 20 others were injured and hospitalized.
