African Swine Flu (ASF) was registered at the Kalita agricultural complex in Kyiv region (Kalita village, Brovary district) on July 28, the State Veterinary and Biosecurity Service has reported.

According to information on the inspectorate’s website, a higher incidence of the deaths of pigs older than four months was recorded at PJSC Kalita. ASF was diagnosed during the study of biological material samples taken from dead animals.

In order to coordinate actions to localize and eliminate an ASF outbreak, a meeting of the State Emergency Anti-Epizootic Commission at Brovary District Administration was held on July 29.

As of July 28, the farm managed more than 60,000 pigs. In accordance with the instruction for the prevention and control of ASF, the pigs are to be culled as soon as possible.

According to preliminary reports, the disease broke out after animal health requirements for pigs were violated.
