Crimea's State Council passed a resolution - on measures aimed at preserving cultural valuables kept in Crimean museum facilities - at an unscheduled plenary meeting on Wednesday.

According to the document’s preamble, it was passed “in accordance
with the Crimean Constitution Article 18 and provisions of the UN
Charter Article 55 and convention on measures aimed at banning and
preventing illegal import, export and transfer of ownership rights on
cultural valuables, thinking that every state is obliged to preserve
their heritage consisting of the cultural valuables on its territory
from the dangers of theft, destruction and illegal import.”

The Crimean parliament ruled with this document to consider all
cultural valuables in Crimea listed in documentation registries in
Crimean museum facilities and state property funds, including those
transferred to temporary storage from funds of relevant museum
facilities outside Crimea, as property of Crimea.

The Crimean council of ministers has been ordered to ensure the
preservation of Crimean cultural valuables and to take measures to
return museum valuables to Crimean museums, which were transferred for
temporary storage to museum funds outside Crimea.
