You're reading: Another FEMEN activist attacked, assailant arrested

The Ukrainian movement FEMEN claims that one of its activists was attacked while taking part in a demonstration outside the Khreschatyk subway station in Kyiv on Thursday, May 3.

During the demonstration the "sex bomb under Euro 2012" was symbolized by a semi-naked young woman with the words Sex Bomb written over her chest.

"The female movement FEMEN planted a sex bomb under Еuro 2012. The ominous item was found outside the Khreschatyk station of the Kyiv subway system at 1130 today. People in pink overalls encircled the sex bomb and conducted forced evacuation of citizens from the affected area," FEMEN said in a press release.

One of the activists, FEMEN member Diana Senych, "was beaten by a man and hospitalized by paramedics with a suspected brain concussion," the press release said.

"The assailant was apprehended by indifferent citizens who handed him over to the subway police," the movement said.

"FEMEN was the first in Ukraine to doubt the benefits of Euro 2012 and pointed to the humanitarian disaster related to sex tourism and prostitution during the [football] championship," the Ukrainian feminist movement said.
