ZAPORIZHIA – Prices of brad and other foodstuff in Ukraine will remain stable, despite the bad harvest in Ukraine, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.

He said at a meeting with workers of the Dniprovska water pump
station 1 in Zaporizhia that only in Zaporizhia region the grain harvest
fell by 800,000 tonnes compared to the previous year (2.2 million
tonnes was harvested in 2011 and 1.4 million tonnes – in 2012). Azarov
said that as a whole in Ukraine grain losses could reach eight million
tonnes.

“Speculators have raised their heads, but despite forecasts of high
prices of grain of this year harvest, the prices of bread, milk, butter
and other foodstuff in Ukraine will not grow, compared to the situation
with the poor harvest in 2003 and 2010. The state has large food and
grain stocks, which will be supplied to the Ukrainian market,” he said.
