An increase in oil price has influenced the cost of Russian natural gas for Ukraine, so the country has to pay $550 per 1,000 cubic meters of gas today, Ukrainian Premier Mykola Azarov has said.

"Strained political situation around oil exporters affected the world market and Ukraine. The price of oil and respectively the cost of gas increased. This problem is even more serious for Ukraine as it has to pay an absurd price of $550 per 1,000 cubic meters [of gas]," the PM said, while opening a meeting of the government in Kyiv on Friday, April 27.
