You're reading: Batkivschyna says government plotting provocations to discredit pro-EU protesters

Batkivschyna faction deputy Hennadiy Moskal has said that the authorities are plotting provocations against pro-government deputies, journalists and public activists in order to discredit pro-EU demonstrators.

“A systemic provocation is being prepared against prominent journalists,
members of NGOs, as well as [Party of Regions] MPs [Nestor] Shufrych,
[Vladyslav] Lukianov and [Oleh] Tsariov. They have already chosen the
people who, if possible, should either burn down their cars, set fire to
an apartment door, or burn down a house. All this, then, will be
reprinted in the government-controlled media as the actions of
‘villains’ from the Maidan [Independence Square in Kyiv],” he said at a
briefing at the opposition’s national resistance headquarters on
Thursday.
