You're reading: Batkivschyna says provocations against government being prepared to discredit Euromaidan

A member of the Batkivschyna parliamentary faction, Hennadiy Moskal, has said that the government was plotting provocations against members of the majority faction in the parliament, journalists and public activists with the aim of discrediting the protesters at the Euromaidan rally.

“A systemic provocation against well-known journalists, members of
public organizations, and MPs [Nestor] Shufrych, [Vladyslav] Lukyanov,
and [Oleh] Tsariov is being prepared. People, who if possible will burn
their cars, the doors of their apartments, or their houses, have been
chosen. This is done so that the government-controlled media can spread
reports of actions of ‘villains’ from Maidan,” he said at a press
briefing at the national resistance headquarters on December 12.
