Kyiv, June 15 (Interfax-Ukraine) – The united congress of the Batkivschyna Party has unanimously approved the European Ukraine manifest as an ideological platform of the party.

“The strategic goal of the party is the permanent improvement of justice in all its dimensions, the achievement of a high level of living for people, the full membership of Ukraine in the European Union and bringing of all spheres of social life in line with the European standards,” reads a manifest read by First Deputy Leader of the Batkivschyna Party Oleksandr Turchynov at the congress on Saturday.

The party declared its values in the manifest, among which are the supremacy of law and democracy, human rights and freedoms, creation of equal opportunities for each citizen, humanistic morals, observation of Christian commandments, equality of all citizens before law, developed civil society and political pluralism.

The Batkivschyna Party also declared that among its values is freedom of speech and media, division and independence of power branches, political and economic competition, fair and transparent democratic elections and transparency of power agencies.

The party believes that Holodomor was genocide of the Ukrainian nation.

The document also says that Ukraine as an integral part of the Euro-Atlantic civilization should become a full member of the European Union in the closest historic outlook and introduce the standards of the European Union in the political, economic, social and cultural-humanitarian areas.

“The joining the EU is a key strategic priority of Ukraine’s domestic and foreign policies,” reads the manifest.

“We’re obliged to observe the declared principles in our public actions in opposition or at power in drawing up of the state policy, take the principles as a guiding line in making of political decisions in the law-making and administrative work in line with powers presented to us by the Ukrainian nation,” reads the document.

The manifest was drawn up personally by Batkivschyna Leader Yulia Tymoshenko.
