Belarus on Thursday, July 31 lifted import restrictions on potatoes from Ukraine that were imposed on July 10, 2014, the Main State Inspectorate for Seed Production, Quarantine and Plant Protection said in a statement.

The restrictions were imposed at the request of Russian agricultural
watchdog Rosselkhoznadzor and in accordance with the Customs Union
agreement on plant quarantine and the International Plant Protection
Convention.

Ukraine’s potato harvest declined 4.3 percent to 23.26 million tonnes in
2013, according to data from the State Statistics Service. Belarus
imported potatoes from Ukraine worth $0.53 million last year, 17.3 percent less
than in 2012.
