The Supreme Court of Belarus has declared Delta Bank (Belarus) bankrupt and has opened liquidation procedures, the press service of the court has reported.

The concrete measures plan under the liquidation procedure is to be presented to the court before Sept. 10, 2015. The bank is to be liquidated before Dec. 21, 2016.

“The next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 18, 2015. A report of the manager on the fulfillment of the liquidation plan will be heard and the interim liquidation balance of sheet of Delta Bank will be agreed,” the report said.

As reported, the beneficiary of Belarusian Delta Bank is Ukrainian businessman Mykola Lahun, whose largest asset was Ukrainian Delta Bank.

Lahun owned three other banks in Ukraine – Omega Bank, Astra Bank and Kreditprombank. In March 2015, all four Ukrainian banks were put on the list of insolvent banks.

National Bank of Belarus from March 12, 2015 introduced temporary administration at Belarusian Delta Bank, and on March 18 the bank’s license was revoked.

Later, the financial police opened two criminal cases into the deliberate bankruptcy of the bank

The core business of Delta Bank (Belarus) was consumer crediting. The bank was ranked 16th among 29 operating banks in Belarus as of Oct. 1, 2014, in terms of total assets.
