ODESA - The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Ministry of Infrastructure have allowed the corporatization and division of the Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority, Deputy Minister of Infrastructure Yuriy Vaskov has said.

“The Ministry of Infrastructure will express its view on the bill officially. But now it is not ready. As for the position of the Cabinet, it is mulling such a possibility, and the ministry considers it appropriate to include the authority in the list of enterprises that can be corporatized and remained in public ownership. This means there is no talk about the privatization of the authority or the infrastructure. It is proposed to permanently fix the enterprise in the list of objects that are not subject to privatization but to corporatize it, because it is a more effective form of control and management,” he told Interfax-Ukraine.

With regard to the division of the authority, according to Vaskov, now there are no preconditions to carry out this process.

“My opinion is that right now we are not ready for this. But the issue is on the agenda,” he said.

As reported, on Feb. 18 the Verkhovna Rada registered the bill on amendments to certain legislative acts of Ukraine (regarding the proper functioning of ports).
