You're reading: Cabinet of Ministers wants to ban outdoor advertisement on some roads

  The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has proposed that the parliament restricts the placement of outdoor advertisement placed along highways, the public relations department of the Interior Ministry of Ukraine has reported.

The relevant bill was approved at a cabinet meeting on June 26, 2013. The bill includes amendments to the law on advertisement and the law on automobile roads.

The placement of outdoor advertisement will be banned on sidewalks, bicycle and pedestrian lanes and alleys; outside settlements a distance of less than 10 meters from the road (today five meters); within the right of way area of general-use motor roads; above the surface of the general-use highways; on the dividing strips of general-use highways; on the surface and priers of road signs, lighting, artificial facilities; in the zone of transport hubs, bridges, overpasses; and in the places where there is an increased number of road traffic accidents.

As reported, MP Anton Yatsenko (the Party of Regions faction) has proposed that outdoor advertisements should be removed from Ukrainian highways. His bill was registered in the parliament on May 31, 2013.

According to the document, it is proposed to amend the law on advertisements, which will ban the placement of outdoor advertisements on sidewalks, bicycle and pedestrian lanes; in settlements less than five meters above the surface of roads; outside settlements a distance of less than 10 meters from the road.

In addition, it is proposed that the placement of advertisements is banned within the right of way area of general-use motor roads; above the surface of the general-use highways and roads in settlements; on the dividing strips of general-use highways; on the surface and priers of road signs, lighting, artificial facilities; in the zone of transport hubs, bridges, overpasses; and in the places where there is an increased number of road traffic accidents.
