The Cabinet of Ministers at a meeting on October 1 considered the situation at Ukraine's electric and metallurgical enterprises and adopted a resolution entitled "Some issues on ensuring the stability of the work of electric and metallurgical enterprises of Ukraine," according to which these enterprises will pay for electricity under preferential tariffs.

According to a press release of Zaporizhia Regional State Administration, with reference to its chairman Oleksandr Peklushenko, the government resolution, in particular, reduced the cost of electricity for PJSC Zaporizhia Ferroalloy Plant to 6 cents per kWh.

“The government fulfilled its promise – Ukrainian electric and metallurgical enterprises are provided with state support,” said Peklushenko, who participated in the cabinet meeting.

According to him, the adoption of the decree was preceded by an intense discussion, as reduced tariffs for electric and metallurgical enterprises could be actually referred as the state’s investment of about UAH 250 million in private companies. The main argument “for” was saving jobs and, consequently, the provision of the further stable work of the electric and metallurgical complex.
