The Ukrainian government has approved a draft law on the reduction of tariffs on production of electricity by solar power plants, Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Ostap Semerak has said.

“The government approved the bill on the liquidation of a monopoly of one company, which generated electricity using solar energy under so-called feed-in tariff, and submitted it to the Verkhovna Rada,” he said at a press conference in Kyiv on Wednesday.

Semerak said that the concrete company is not mentioned in the bill.

The document foresees the reduction of the coefficient to the tariff on electricity, which is the highest for electricity generated using solar modules, to the coefficient to the tariff on electricity generated using wind power.

He said that the amendments will not touch households which use solar modules for their own needs.
