You're reading: CIS election observation mission accredited in Ukraine

The CIS election observation mission has received accreditation from the Central Election Commission of Ukraine for monitoring the elections to the Verkhovna Rada and starts working in Ukraine, First Deputy Chairman of the CIS Executive Committee Vladimir Garkun told this in an interview to Interfax-Ukraine.

“We have just returned from the CEC of Ukraine, where we have received international observers’ accreditation. We arrived to monitor the elections at an invitation of the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Ukraine, and from today, September 29, the CIS observation mission starts monitoring the parliamentary elections,” Garkun said.

According to him, the mission is being currently formed, it already has more than 150 observers. On the whole, they expected to include about 250 short-term and long-term observers the head of the mission, Garkun added.
