You're reading: CIS observers will not monitor Ukrainian election

The CIS mission will not take part in monitoring the Ukrainian presidential election because it has not been invited by Ukraine, the CIS Executive Committee told Interfax in Minsk.

“No. There has not been any invitation,” a Committee official said
when asked whether CIS observers will be monitoring the Ukrainian
election.

The question of whether a CIS monitoring mission should be sent is
regulated by the relevant provision approved by the CIS Council of
Foreign Ministry and involving a number of procedures, the Committee
recalled.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Deschytsia said earlier
that the CIS observers can request accreditation with the Ukrainian CEC
without invitation.
