A shelling attack on Donetsk on July 29 left two people killed and 15 others wounded, the Donetsk City Council said on its Web site.

“According to official reports, one Donetsk resident was killed last
night, and two others during the day. Fifteen people sustained wounds,”
it said.

The situation remained tense in the city later in the day, the City Council said.

“A shelling attack on the center of the city at about 12:20 pm hit two
garages which caught fire. Both garages were destroyed. A shockwave blew
out windows from neighboring residential buildings. Three other
apartment buildings were damaged. The infrastructure of the city park
remained undamaged. Shells fell into city ponds leaving the
infrastructure unharmed,” the City Council said.

Reports said earlier on today, citing spokesman for the
Southeastern Front Kostiantyn Knyryk that, explosions could be heard
near the Donetsk railway terminal during the day.

Several residential buildings were damaged by shells, according to the militia.

The evacuation of residents from individual streets began in Donetsk after the shelling attack, the City Council said.
