You're reading: Committee head happy with choice of new prosecutor

One of Ukraine’s most influential policy makers in the judicial branch on applauded President Viktor Yanukovych’s appointment of Viktor Pshonka as prosecutor general.

Serhiy Kivalov, head of the parliament’s judiciary and member of the High Council of Justice issued the followed statement on Nov. 4:

“I am happy that a specialist has been chosen to head the General Prosecutor’s Office, someone with 30 years of experience in prosecutorial work, a sound legal education, and even a higher degree. This is shows the qualities of the new authority when it comes to picking cadre.”

The press release said Kivalov is pleased that Pshonka considers adopting a new Criminal Procedural Code and a new Law on the Prosecutor’s Office priorities.
