You're reading: Contact group for Ukraine to meet in Minsk on Aug. 1

Moscow - A meeting between representatives of the self-proclaimed Donetsk People's Republic and Luhansk People's Republic and an official Ukrainian delegation in Minsk is scheduled for Friday, Aug. 1, a source with the contact group for a peaceful settlement in eastern Ukraine told Interfax on Thursday, July 31.

“The meeting is scheduled for Friday, Aug.1. These will not be consultations
on a peaceful settlement. A very narrow range of issues is to be
discussed there. This could rather be called a meeting between
representatives of the self-proclaimed republics and the Ukrainian
side,” the source said.

The consultations will focus on two issues, the source said. “The
first of them is the exchange of captives, and the second is likely to
be the provision of security of experts working at the Malaysian Boeing
crash site,” he said.
