Strasbourg - An international advisory group of the Council of Europe set up to oversee the investigation into the cases of violence in Ukraine during the protests, which lasted from November last year, has received new information from the Ukrainian government, the Council of Europe's press service has told Interfax-Ukraine.

It recalled that at the end of last week, the group met in Kyiv to
discuss the information received, and also met with the prosecutor
general, a deputy interior minister, and deputy health and justice
ministers.

The group will return to Kyiv to meet with respective persons in the
period from Sept. 4 to Sept. 9, the press service said.

As part of this meeting, the experts, led by former President of the
European Court of Human Rights Nicolas Bratza, will assess in detail the
information on the course and nature of the inquiry into the events
that occurred on Independence Square in Kyiv.

As reported, the expert group was created at the initiative of
Secretary-General of the Council of Europe Thorbjorn Jagland after
reports on violence against Ukrainians protesting on the Maidan in Kyiv.
