You're reading: Darth Vader delivers ultimatum to justice minister

There is no escape from Darth Vader  - not even in Ukraine's Justice Ministry. The famous villain from Star Wars sci-fi movie showed up in Kyiv on Feb. 26 to give an ultimatum to the minister: reanimate the Internet Party of Ukraine, or else.

Accompanied by his loyal troopers, the man in black helmet approached the offices of Justice Minister Oleksandr Lavrynovych with this question: “Are
you aware of who is standing in front of you?”

An awe-struck security guard did not give in to the dark power of the evil Jedi, though.

“I
am Darth Vader, the right hand of Emperor Palpatine,” the man
introduced himself in a video posted by LigaBusinessInform. He also added that he is a first deputy head of the mentioned party.

“As
a symbol of invincibility and power of Internet Party of Ukraine I
decided to intervene personally into a destiny of this institution,”
the man said. “I will not let any
Rabinovich to make raider attacks on oppositional political parties.
I will make every official directly or indirectly involved in this
crime to regret about it.”

The appearance of Darth Vader in the minister’s office seems to be a late response to an August ban of the Internet party by court. Ukraine has about 200 parties registered officially.

This is not the first time Darth Vader is spotted in Ukraine. Last time  he appeared in public during the Oct. 28 parliamentary election when he attempted
to vote in Odesa, but failed. The staff at the polling asked him to
show his face for personal identification, but he refused to do so.

“Everyone
knows that I’ll die if I take off my mask,” he later explained to
Dumskaya.net web newspaper, referring to Darth Vader’s inability to
breath without the help of a life support system in his mask. “Those
people from the polling station are so ignorant.”

Also,  in November 2011,
Darth Vader came
to the city council to claim a land plot
 in Odesa,
but also failed.
