Russia has violated the agreement on the stationing of the Russian Black Sea Fleet on Ukrainian territory, acting Defense Minister Ihor Teniukh has said. "In violation of all agreements on the stationing of the fleet, Russia has brought an additional 6,000 troops to Crimea," he said at a briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center on March 17.

“In violation of all agreements on the stationing of the fleet,
Russia has brought an additional 6,000 troops to Crimea,” he said at a
briefing at the Ukraine Crisis Media Center on March 17.

He said that as of January 1, 2014, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry, the number of Russian troops was 12,500 people.

“Therefore, there is an obvious violation of basic agreements between Ukraine and Russia,” he said.

Teniukh said that there were currently about 21,000 Black Sea Fleet servicemen in Crimea.
