You're reading: Defense minister says Ukraine has no ballistic missiles

Ukrainian Defense Minister Valeriy Heletei has denied reports on the use of intermediate-range ballistic missiles by the Ukrainian armed forces in the antiterrorist operation in the eastern part of the country.

“Ukraine doesn’t have such ballistic missiles that have been mentioned. They don’t exist in nature,” Heletei said in the Shuster Live television program in the early hours of Saturday.

CNN had reported earlier with reference to the U.S. intelligence community that the Ukrainian armed forces had used ballistic missiles against gunmen in eastern Ukraine.

At the same time, the Ukrainian mission to NATO described reports that the alliance had confirmed the use of ballistic missiles by Ukraine as “just another fake.”
