LUHANSK – People's deputy Volodymyr Landik has said that his family has paid Hr 320,000 to Mariya Korshunova, who was beat up by his son Roman, "for telling the truth in court."

As reported by an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, during an interrogation at a hearing in the case against his son in the Leninsky District Court of Luhansk, Landik stated that earlier Korshunova received an additional Hr 40,000 from his representatives.

According to Landik, his employees raised these assets.

"I did not even know about this," Landik added.

He also accused Korshunova and her authorized persons of blackmail.

In turn, Korshunova said that Landik proposed that she take the money and change her testimony in court.

"You told me to take the money and say that we just "hugged one another" with Roman. Inever asked for money from you. You gave them it to me. I don’t deny that I took it. You paid me a compensation for material and moral damage, and I have no claims against Roman. But he is threatening me right in the courtroom," she said.

Korshunova also told reporters that she fears for her life and for lives of her relatives.

As reported, Roman Landik was filmed beating up Korshunova in a restaurant in Luhansk late on July 4, 2011.

On July 7, the prosecutor’s office of Luhansk region opened a criminal case against Landik on charges of disorderly conduct (Part 3 of Article 296) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. Landik was detained in Krasnodar (Russia).

On Aug. 11, the Russian Prosecutor General’s Office satisfied a request from the Ukrainian Prosecutor General’s Office of July 19 to extradite Landik to Ukraine in order to call him to account.

On Sept. 27, Leninsky District Court in Luhansk decided to arrest Landik for two months.

Late in October, Korshunova and Landik signed an "amicable agreement."

Roman Landik is the son of Regions Party deputy Volodymyr Landik.
