The Pechersky District Court of Kyiv has announced a break until 1100 on July 25 in the consideration of a criminal case opened against former First Deputy Chairman of Naftogaz Ukrainy Ihor Didenko, former Head of the State Customs Service Anatoliy Makarenko and former Deputy Chief of the Energy Regional Customs Service Taras Shepitko.

The presiding judge, Oksana Tsarevych, said that the decision to postpone the consideration of the case for three days had been taken due to the fact that the new composition of the court had handed the copies of the indictments to the defendants and that they were given this time to study the documents.

Didenko disagreed with this decision. He said that the copies of the indictments had been handed to the defendants three days before the first court session held on April 18.

"It’s possible to fill all of the existing gaps routinely and not to postpone the court session," he said.

Tsarevych, in turn, referred to the requirements of the Criminal Procedure Code and objected to Didenko’s demands.
