Dnipropetrovsk will host the Conference of the Assembly of European Regions (AER) on cooperation in the framework of the European Union's Eastern Partnership initiative on April 25-27, 2013.

“The Conference of the Assembly of European Regions is the continuation of systemic actions to expand and deepen inter-regional European cooperation,” Ukraine’s Vice Prime Minister Oleksandr Vilkul said after a meeting in Brussels, his press service reported on Monday.

The Conference of the Assembly of European Regions with the participation of members of the European Parliament and representatives of the European Commission will bring together about 100 leaders of regions of the EU and the countries of the Eastern Partnership (Ukraine, Moldova, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia and Belarus) and Russia.

The conference will include the meetings of the AEP Committee for Economy and Regional Development and the AER Committee for Culture, Education, Youth and International Cooperation.

“Such international events allow Ukraine to expand the number of partners, to attract more attention from investors, international programs and organizations, strengthen the country’s reputation as a reliable and promising partner in various areas of cooperation – from industry and agriculture to education, science and culture,” Vilkul said.

The deputy prime minister expressed the confidence that the conference of the Assembly of European Regions, which will be dedicated to the development of cooperation between the regions of the countries of the Eastern Partnership and the regions of the EU, will become a productive platform for the discussion and adoption of specific decisions on the implementation of joint projects.
