Donetsk City Council has asked the court to ban rallies in the city on March 15-16.

“Donetsk City Council received applications from various
organizations to hold mass rallies on March 15 and 16. Given the current
situation, the city council will immediately file an appeal in court to
suspend the right to hold rallies on these days,” Donetsk Mayor
Oleksandr Lukianchenko said in a statement on Friday.

“Blood was spilled in Donetsk – a resident of our city died, and
three more are in hospital. There were mass clashes during a peaceful
protest. This is a tragedy for Donetsk. The city council and the
executive committee express their condolences to the family of the
deceased,” he said.

“I demand that law enforcement agencies report to the residents of
the city. I demand a thorough investigation into the incident and
measures to prevent even the possibility of clashes in future,”
Lukianchenko said.
