The flag of the Donetsk People's Republic raised above the Donetsk city police department on May 4 has been replaced with the flags of Donetsk and Donetsk region, the local police said on Monday.

“The flag of the ‘Donetsk People’s Republic’ was hoisted on the
Donetsk city police department during actions involving many thousands
of citizens. Officers of the Donetsk city police department replaced the
flag with the flags of Donetsk and Donetsk region, which was attested
to by the photographs posted by a number of online editions,” the
Donetsk city police department press service reported.

Meanwhile, the Web site of the Donetsk City Council confirmed the ongoing tenure of Donetsk Mayor Oleksandr Lukianchenko.

“Some media outlets reported on May 4 the alleged resignation of
Mayor Oleksandr Lukianchenko. The public relations department of the
City Council officially announces that Oleksandr Lukianchenko is the
incumbent head of the city of Donetsk and he is seated in his office,”
the report runs.

The City Council called provocative the reports alleging the mayor’s resignation.
