All higher educational institutions that are subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports of Ukraine have received funds for the payment of stipends in full, the ministry has reported.

“As of July 30, 2012, all higher educational institutions subordinate
to the ministry have received funding for the payment of indexed
stipends in full, in accordance with the limits of budgetary
appropriations for January-July this year,” the ministry’s press service
reported on Monday, July 30.

The ministry also said that the current minimum academic ordinary
stipend at higher educational institutions of the third and fourth
levels of accreditation was Hr 530 per month. Given the fact that such a
stipend is subject to indexation by 36.7%, or Hr 194.51, the student
obtains Hr 724.51.

Earlier, a statement posted on the official Web site of the Ukrainian
Association of Student Government said that stipends for students in
July had allegedly been reduced by Hr 200.

On July 25, Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister and Social Policy
Minister Sergiy Tigipko said that the government had raised the basic
level of stipends for students of vocational schools and higher
educational institutions on average by 37.5%.
