You're reading: EU Commissioner for Justice to visit Ukraine on Sept. 24-25

EU Commissioner for Justice, Consumers and Gender Equality Vera Jourova will arrive in Kyiv on Sept. 24-25 on an official visit to discuss reforms.

“The purpose of the visit is to support the process of judicial reform and combating corruption,” the press service of the EU Delegation to Ukraine quoted European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker as saying about Jourova’s visit.

“Ukraine has launched very important reforms in the field of justice. Currently, they have to go into action on the ground. I expect to meet with Ukrainian officials and participants in the process of the implementation of reforms in order to prepare further initiatives to support Ukraine in the fight against corruption and organized crime,” Jourova said.

She is due to meet President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, Justice Minister Pavlo Petrenko, and Prosecutor General of Ukraine Viktor Shokin.
