The Small Football Arena fan zone, where matches of the Euro 2012 European Football Championship will be broadcast live, is to be located at the National Circus of Ukraine in Kyiv.

"This fan zone is planned to be a convenient, comfortable and the largest covered Euro 2012 fan zone in Kyiv. We think that this is a good alternative for those who don’t manage to get to the stadiums of Ukraine and Poland for some reason or other," the main coordinator of the project and public liaisons manager of the National Circus, Oleh Kyi, said during a press conference in Kyiv on February 29.

He said four large screens of around 50 square meters in area would hang over the arena in the circus. Thanks to the rhombus-shaped installation of the screens, everyone present will be able to watch the matches in comfort.

The hall in which the Euro 2012 matches are to be broadcast seats 1,907 people. The organizers decided to change the seating plan for the first three rows, due to which the Small Football Arena will seat 1,719.

Fan bars with TV sets will be located in the lobby on the second floor of the circus. On days when two matches take place, visitors will be able to watch both matches for the cost of one ticket, which will be the same as the price of a ticket to the arena hall of the circus.

A special beer menu will be prepared for fans. Each table in the fan bar will seat seven people. A total of 504 people will be able to watch Euro 2012 matches in the lobby.

The minimum cost of tickets to the arena hall will be Hr 150. The cost of the tickets to the opening and the final matches will vary from Hr 250 to Hr 350.

Sales of tickets have started on the official Web site of the project, at the ticket boxes of the National Circus, at theatre ticket boxes in Kyiv and other distributor on February 29.

"The difference from the stadiums is that beer will be allowed in our halls. We will follow the example of Oktoberfest, where there is beer and the security level is high. There will be up to 30 security guards wearing civilian clothes in the hall. A police detachment will also guard the circus," Kyi said.

"We will have a good security system. People can come with their families and in pairs to us. The opening of fan zones in the city’s centers will be mainly aimed at young people," the project coordinator said.

Director General and Art Director of the National Circus of Ukraine Volodymyr Shevchenko added that during breaks in broadcasts of Euro 2012 matches circus performances would be put on at the arena.

"We’ve ordered two performances related to football with participation of trained Boxer dogs and small pigs of various breeds," he said.

Shevchenko added that usual daily circus performances would also be held before Euro 2012 matches.
