You're reading: European Commission: EU Commissioner Fule to visit Ukraine on Dec. 12

BRUSSELS – The European Commission has confirmed that European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule will visit Ukraine before the Ukraine-EU summit.

The EU Commissioner will visit Kyiv on Monday, Dec. 12, a representative of the European Commission, Peter Stano, told Interfax-Ukraine.

Fule is to meet with Ukrainian leaders, including President Viktor Yanukovych.

Earlier, Interfax-Ukraine learned about the upcoming visit of the EU Commissioner from a diplomatic source.

Director of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s Department of Information Policy Oleh Voloshyn told Interfax-Ukraine that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko will meet with EU Commissioner Fule next Monday "within the context of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry’s work on the preparations for high-quality hosting of the EU-Ukraine summit and the completion of talks on the Association Agreement."
