You're reading: European Parliament intended to speed up introduction of visa benefits for Ukrainians

Administration of Ukrainian president has said that recent media reports on EU's decision to postpone voting on visa benefits for Ukrainians in the European Parliament are somehow inaccurate.

“Yesterday media reported that European Parliament would vote for visa-free travel regime just in September. I would rather to say that this is not quite right interpretation. Really, to vote for such kind of decision, driving from procedural reasons, EP needs several months. But just yesterday we were assured that the European Parliament, our friends from EP ready to speed up all necessary procedures to do that as quickly as possible,” deputy head of the Ukrainian presidential administration Kostiantyn Yeliseyev said.

Being asked by the journalists, Yeliseyev stressed that there is no binding between terms of Ukraine-EU summit and a process of the introduction of no visa-travel regime between Ukraine and EU.

He said that Ukraine has done all “above and beyond the call of duty and is waiting for the respective steps of the European institutions.”
