Energy Commissioner Günther Oettinger has asked for Ukraine’s guarantee that a new dispute over hydrocarbons supply to Russia will not jeopardise the country’s gas transit commitments towards the EU. Ukrainian Minister for Energy Yuriy Boiko reassured the commissioner via telephone, on Jan.13, that the quarrel is not going to affect deliveries to his country's Western neighbours. Boiko also confirmed that a prospective agreement is going to respect Ukraine’s obligations laid out in the Energy Community Treaty, which the country entered on Feb.1 2011.
