You're reading: Ex-lawmaker Shemchuk to become new Lviv region governor

Ukrainian Deputy Prime Minister Kostiantyn Hryschenko will introduce the new head of Lviv Regional State Administration, Viktor Shemchuk, to Lviv region officials on Monday.

The press service of Lviv Regional State Administration said that a
meeting with Hryschenko and Shemchuk would begin at 1115 at the session
hall, A press briefing will be held after the meeting.

At the same time, no reports have been issued on the official appointment of Shemchuk by Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych.

Currently Mykhailo Kostiuk heads Lviv Regional State Administration.

Shemchuk was born on Ternopil. In 1993 he graduated from the law department of Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

From 1993 he worked as assistance to prosecutor, investigator, and senior investigator of Ternopil City Prosecutor’s Office.

In 1998 he was transferred to the Prosecutor’s Office of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

From early 2005 he worked as Deputy Prosecutor General of Ukraine – Prosecutor of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea.

From November 2008 until December 2012 he was a people’s deputy of
Ukraine in the parliament of the sixth convocation from the Our
Ukraine-People’s Self-Defense faction.
