Ukraine's five deadliest ground transportation accidents


1. Oct. 12, 2010: A collision between a bus and a train kills 43 passengers of the bus died after colliding with a train locomotive on a railroad crossing in Dnipropetrovsk. Eight passengers remain hospitalized in critical condition.

2. Oct. 7, 1997: An accident kills 18 female pensioners, passengers of a GAZ-66 truck that was struck by the Samarovka-Pavlohrad train in Dnipropetrovk Oblast.


3. April 2007:
A bus-truck crash kills 12 passengers in Kmelnitskiy Oblast.

4. May 23, 2008: A bus traveling from Rivne-Kyiv collides head-on with a truck, killing 11 people on the bus.

5. Dec. 5, 2008: A trailer carrying children’s toys disengages from a truck and strikes a bus carrying Russian Orthodox church pilgrams traveling in the opposition direction, killing 10 on the bus.
