You're reading: First group of Ukrainian peacekeepers for UN mission in Congo ready

The preparation of the first rotation of the peacekeeping contingent of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo has ended in Lviv region.

The Ukrainian Defense Ministry reported about this on Thursday, Jan. 5.

The preparation was conducted at the base of the 3rd Army Aviation Regiment of the 8th Army Corps of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in Brody.

Major-General Oleksandr Sirsky praised the preparation of the Ukrainian peacekeeping contingent.

He noted that the peacekeeping force of the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo included best-trained servicemen. Almost 90% of them have experience of participation in peacekeeping operations in Kosovo, Iraq, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
