You're reading: Five injured after Stirol ammonia incident moved to Donetsk, another 17 remain in Horlivka hospital

Twenty-three people have been hospitalized as a result of Tuesday's ammonia blowout at Stirol Concern's plant in Horlivka, according to the Health Department of Donetsk Regional State Administration.

Of theme, 22 people are in hospitals of Horlivka and Donetsk, the remaining one receives outpatient treatment.

Three employees of the plant are in intensive care unit of Horlivka city hospital No. 2, one of them is in grave condition, the other two are in stable condition. Another twelve are in general care wards of the hospital.

The health of the two people who are being treated in Horlivka City Hospital No. 3 is out of danger.

According to the regional administration, five people were transferred for treatment to a regional clinic in Donetsk. They are in moderately grave condition.

As reported, there was an ammonia blowout during overhauls at the No. 1 Plant of PJSC Stirol Concern on August 6. Five people were killed and nine were taken to an intensive care unit.

According to preliminary findings, a gas leak occurred due to an ammonia pipeline failure.

Stirol is one of Ukraine’s biggest chemical producers. Ostchem is a managing company that coordinates the strategy of six fertilizer companies belonging to Group DF of Dmytro Firtash, four of which are located in Ukraine: Stirol Concern, Severodonetsk Azot, Cherkasy Azot and Rivneazot.
