The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has advised Ukrainian citizens to refrain from visiting regions in Lebanon bordering Syria - the northern and eastern regions of the Bekaa Valley, the Gaza Strip, or the Gulf of Guinea in Africa.

“In the context of the development of the security situation in the region, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry advises all citizens who are in Lebanon or plan to visit this country soon to refrain from visiting the northern city of Tripoli and eastern and northern regions of the Bekaa Valley bordering Syria,” deputy director of the information policy department at the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Vasyl Zvarych said at a briefing in Kyiv on Tuesday.

He also said that due to the difficult security and sanitary-epidemiological situation in the Palestinian territories in the Gaza Strip, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry warns Ukrainians against visiting the region.

Zvarych added that “due to increased pirate activity in the Gulf of Guinea, which has been recently been observed, as well as an increase in the number of armed attacks on maritime vessels in order to seize and hold hostage crewmembers to get a ransom, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry advised citizens to refrain from working on board vessels that transport cargo by sea routes in this region.”
