The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry is checking reports of the detention of Ukrainians in the United States in a case on the illegal export of high-tech microelectronic devices from the United States to Russia.

“We are checking these reports,” Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov told Interfax-Ukraine on Thursday.

On Wednesday, U.S. authorities brought the charges against 11 people.
Eight people are in the United States, and they were taken into custody
under a Houston court ruling.

Charges were also brought against three citizens staying in Moscow.

Russian Consul General in Houston Alexander Zakharov said that of the
eight people detained by U.S. law enforcement agencies, four are
Russians and the rest are citizens of Azerbaijan, Ukraine and
Kazakhstan.
