Ukrainian diplomats has not received any information about Ukrainians being injured in accidents in the Alps, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has said.

During a briefing on Thursday, Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Oleksandr Dykusarov spoke of the situation at Austrian resorts in the Alps following a series of avalanches.

According to him, some of residential areas in the region remain blocked and citizens cannot leave some resorts, as the roads are closed.

Dukysarov stressed that if Ukrainians are staying in the blocked resorts and their Schengen visas expire, they have to address the tour operators that organized their holidays in the area, to receive a document confirming that they were unable to leave the region. According to Dykusarov, the citizens will show this document when crossing the border if there are any questions related to the period of validity of Schengen visas for Ukrainian citizens.

In addition, the ministry recommends that citizens of Ukraine in the blocked resorts in Austria keep in touch with tour operators constantly and in case of any questions address Ukrainian diplomatic establishments in the country.

"The Embassy of Ukraine in Austria, Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry or other establishments have not received any reports about Ukrainians being injured or being involved in accidents as of today," Dykusarov said.
